The History
The Fort Mill Care Center traces its origins back to the 1980’s. What began as an idea to help our neighbors continues today as a vibrant client-centered non-profit organization. Then, and now, the Fort Mill Care Center is run completely by caring volunteers. This past year alone: the Fort Mill Care Center provided over 2,580 food donations; which translates to over 99,700 pounds of food, $168,000 in utility
assistance, $30,000 used to help clients with prescriptions, $18,000 to help clients with vital dental care, and during the holidays assisted 428 children with gifts. The list goes on to include putting books in the hands of children and gifts to seniors.
The Legacy
Each and every time the Fort Mill Care Center opens its doors to assist clients; it is done so by a caring volunteer. In fact, there has never been a paid staff member. In 2014, 5,715 hours of volunteer service were donated back to the community. That is an incredible gift of over $128,000 according to the National Value of Volunteer time. The Board, volunteers, and supporters of the Fort Mill Care Center have dared to imagine a positive future that would include a permanent home that secures the legacy of improving lives of our neighbors for years to come.
