Once a location is acquired we will need a lot of assistance adapting the space to our needs and help during the moving phase. This will also create a new financial burden.

Easter Baskets – 130 were given out.

School Backpacks – 387  Filled back packs given out.

Toothbrushes/Toothpaste –789 people received toothbrushes and toothpaste

Santa’s Helper – 799 children were given gifts from “Santa”

Breakfast with Santa (at US Foods) – fed 73 families (154) children)

Thanksgiving Diners – 278 were given to 947 people.

Christmas Dinners - 233 were given out to 749 people).

Winter Clothing – coats, hats, and gloves were collected & distributed.

4,816 families have come through the Center’s doors.

4,150 families (12,916) people) were served food.

313,380 pounds of food were given out.

$176,248 was paid out for utilities for clients of the center.

$42,521 was paid out for prescriptions for clients.

$8,000 was paid for miscellaneous need such as dental for clients.

$261,549 was spent.  Of this, $255,193 went for aid to clients and $6,255 going for operating expenses.  This amounts to 97.8% of income going to help needy residents.

Thanksgiving Dinners Give Away –  All clients can receive an extra bag of food containing the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. This food will be distributed on November 16th and 19th. The foods we try to include are whole chickens, small hams, turkeys, turkey breast, corn, peas, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, rice, cranberry sauce, pie fillings and cake mixes. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

On the morning of Saturday November 10th, the Cub/ Boys Scouts will pick up the bags and deliver the donated food bags  to the Care Center. If you would like to donate but a scout did not leave a bag, the Care Center will be open from 10 a.m. to noon to receive food.

Girl Scout Food Drive

This is the 11th year girl scouts have collected food for the Care Center. If anyone would like to donate, but a scout did not leave a note, we will have the Care Center open October 27 limited hours to receive food.

The FMCC will have the Care Center open 10 AM until noon to receive food.

Our needs change as people donate things we request and we run out of other things.  Currently we are getting low on canned pastas (spaghetti-Os, Chef-Boy-R-Dee, etc.) and tomatoes and tomato sauces.  We have spaghetti coming out our ears, but are almost out of sauce to put on it.

We are very low on most foods that come packaged in boxes and bags. Specifically, we have not had cereal to offer our clients for several weeks, this week we will give out the last of our macaroni and cheese, saltine crackers, rice and dried beans. We have no boxed dinners, no instant potatoes, no cake or muffin mixes, no coffee or tea.

This is traditionally the time of year that our food stores are at their lowest. The next major food drive is not expected until late October.

Donations can be brought to the Fort Mill Care Center at 513 Banks Street during our operating hours of Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 AM until noon.

Our donation drop off is a garage door beside the large banner that says “Home of the Fort Mill Care Center.”

Thank you to all who contribute. The generosity of the people of Fort Mill has allowed us to provide food for needy people in our community since 1967.
