Letter Carriers Picking Up Donated Food Saturday May 12th

Letter carriers ask residents to help ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Saturday. Residents in York and Lancaster counties are asked to leave a sturdy bag of nonperishable goods by their mailboxes before their Saturday mail delivery. Last year, 17 tons were collected in York County. Appropriate items include: • canned soup, vegetables and meat • pasta • rice • cereals • dried beans

Fort Mill Police Officer Heads To Jail To Raise Money

Lt. Ray Dixon of the Fort Mill Police Department needs you to bail him out of “jail” today.

Actually, “jail” is a prop at the Bi-Lo on Hwy. 160 West at the corner of Munn Road and the “bail” is donations Dixon is soliciting for the Fort Mill Care Center. Read more in the Fort Mill Times

Scouts Food Drive This Saturday

On Saturday, November 12th, the Boy Scouts will be conducting a food drive for the Care Center. If you would like to donate but a scout did not leave a bag, the Care Center will be open from 10 a.m. to noon to receive food.

Christmas Dinners. All clients can receive an extra bag of food containing the fixings for a Christmas dinner. This food will be distributed on December 19th and 21st. We try to include the same type of food as the Thanksgiving dinner. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Thanksgiving Dinners. All clients can receive an extra bag of food containing the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. This food will be distributed on November 18th and 21st. The foods we try to include are turkeys, turkey breast, corn, peas, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, rice, cranberry sauce, pie fillings and cake mixes. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

FMCC Needs To Borrow A Truck For Food Donations

Fort Mill Care Center Pantry needs to borrow a large delivery truck once a month, usually the last Monday of the month, to go to Second Harvest in down town Charlotte to pick up food purchased for us by the state of South Carolina.

We never know what we are getting or how much but it is usually between 2,000 and 12,000 pounds each month. If you can help us or need more information about this, please contact me at janarnold@comporium.net. Pleases put FMCC truck on the subject line.

More Donated Food Need For Sept & October At The FMCC

It has a been a very busy year at the food bank. During the first 8 months of this year The Fort Mill Care Center has given away 200,643 pounds of food.

During July and August we gave away over 21,000 pounds each month.

Last week we calculated that we have just over 9,000 of food at the food bank.

We need 12,000 more pounds just for September and another 22,000 pounds for October.

If you can help, please donate food, especially:

canned beans
vegetables, corn
green beans
peanut butter
spaghetti sauce

Money is always welcome and we will go buy the food. For every $1.00 given, we can buy 2 pounds of food. Remember your monetary gifts are tax deductible. Lick to Donation Page
