FORT MILL, SC, Sept. 23, 2015 – The Fort Mill Care Center (FMCC) will conduct its inaugural “Legacy of Caring” benefit golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 12, at the Springfield Golf Club, 639 Hambly House Lane in Fort Mill. Registration for the “Captain’s Choice” tournament begins at 11:15 a.m., with tee off at noon and dinner at 5:30 p.m.
A limited number of business and individual sponsorships are still available according to tournament co-chairs Bob Turner and Clay Luton. Business sponsors receive a foursome team, plus special recognition and signage at the event, dinner provided by Gourmet Gents in Tents of Fort Mill, and a chance to win great prizes, including a 7- night Celebrity Caribbean Cruise provided by Leisure Travel Enterprises in Fort Mill, NASCAR race tickets, golf at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC, dinner at Ballantyne Resort, golf lessons and free dinners at local restaurants.
The cost to participate for individuals is $150, or $600 for a foursome on a first come, first served basis.
“This is a fun way for businesses and individuals in our community to contribute to a great cause – the Fort Mill Care Center,” said Bob Turner. “All proceeds will help pay for a new food storage warehouse at the center’s new location at 2760 Old Nation Road.”
The center recently moved its offices and pantry from 818 Tom Hall St. to a newly renovated building at 2760 Old Nation Road and re-opened to serve its clients on August 31. The new location will allow the center to add more storage space for its food pantry and accommodate the generous donations of food and produce received from individuals and businesses in Fort Mill throughout the year. In recent years, the Center has had to turn away donations because of inadequate storage space.

Last year, the Fort Mill Care Center offered short-term emergency assistance to individuals and families in the Fort Mill community by providing food, help with utility bill payments, emergency dental care, medical prescriptions and holiday gifts for children and seniors. In all, more than 99,000 pounds of food were distributed and a total of $233,000 was given to assist 3,539 families.
